- You submit your proposal and then wait. Of course you hope that you hear congratulations, but only one proposal writer will get that good news. You may be in the other category, and get the disappointing news that another proposal was accepted. You really think you did the best job you could do. You certainly spent countless hours on it, and followed the proposal writing steps, but if your proposal wasn't selected then the proposal process has one more important step. Let's debrief, debriefing is defined as a process of receiving an explanation after participation is complete.
