- Now that we have a pretty good understanding of what Business Catalyst is, what it can do for us, and why we might want to use it. It's time to actually get into the system and check it out. But first, you're gonna need to set up your Business Catalyst account. Now, if you have not already signed up for a free Adobe ID or you're not a member of the Creative Cloud, you probably haven't set up your Business Catalyst account yet. If you are a member of Creative Cloud or you already have an Adobe ID, you can skip most of what I'm getting ready to show you here, and just click on the Sign In button.
I'll show you where that is in just a minute. What I'm gonna do is click right here on the big, sort of, gold-orange Get Started For Free button. And once I click on that it's going to take me to this screen where I'm able to fill out several different aspects of my profile. And so, here I can give them my First Name, my Last Name, an Email address, a Password. You tell them where you are located. I'm in the United States. Then you give them your birthday. And then, at the bottom, you can choose whether or not to stay informed about Adobe products, it's basically signing up for the newsletter. And then, down here, you say that by clicking "Sign up".
That's the same Adobe ID and password that you used to sign in to the Creative Cloud desktop app that you probably have loaded up on your screen already. Once you do that you can choose to stay signed in, down here at the bottom, and then all you have to do is click Sign In. What that is going to do now is take you over into Business Catalyst. And it is going to tell you that you are able to Create Your Free Trial Site. And you can check out all of the templates that they have available to you, if you want to use one of these templates.
I am not going to use this template though because I'm gonna build my own using Adobe Muse. So what I'm going to do is scroll down here to the bottom, and I'm gonna say, you know what, I want to start from scratch. So, I'm just going to select this and I'm going to hit Continue. Once I do that, I'm now brought in here to my Site Details. This is where I will enter in things like my Site Name and Site URL. So, what I'm going to do here is just call this Justin's Test Site. And I'm going to rename this URL, let's call this justinatlynda.businesscatalyst.com.
Now, if you want to use a custom domain for this, like yourname.com, or something similar, then you can set that up and I'll show you how to do that a little bit later on. What I'm going to do now is click Continue. And this is going to create your site for you. So, all of the information you have put in there is now being pushed through the Business Catalyst system. This is being hooked to your Adobe ID. And once this is all set up and finished, it will take you to a screen that looks something like this. And as you can see, that does take just a little bit of time. We sped it up just you could get to this point right here where it does say, "Congratulations, "you have successfully created "your free trial site.
"And you will receive an email shortly "with login instructions." All right, so now what I'm going to do is go back into my email application and I'm gonna find the link inside of here that says BC Admin. And I'm going to click on that. And once I click on that, it's going to take me to a page that looks something similar to this. And what I'm gonna do here is type out my Adobe ID and password, and then I'm gonna click on Sign In. And you can choose whether or not to save your password. Totally up to you. And once you do that, you will be taken into the Adobe Business Catalyst Dashboard.
And, so from here, this is where you do all of the managing of your site. This is where manage all of your sites. This is where you manage all of the different modules that you add to it. And this is where we will be primarily be working throughout the rest of the course.
