Changing mobility and device pinning settings
- The mobile settings are used to determine security settings for mobile devices. In the past, you only had the ability as an administrator to say that users couldn't use Box for iPad, Box for Droid, Box for Windows phones. Now you can allow that, and you can also set some security limitations. These are the default settings that you're seeing here. If you change Save files to device to Restrict, then that disallows saving files on the device. That means that a user can view files, but they can't save them on a mobile device, which might then be at risk if it were lost or stolen. Remember that you can set a group of users rights to a folder or to files as preview only. They can only view them. If that's the case, we probably don't want them then to save them offline. And so by default, that is restricted. If you want users to be able to open files in applications outside of Box, you'll need to allow that.
