What is Bootstrap?

Bootstrap is a front-end framework created by a designer and developer at Twitter to streamline building websites. Front-end refers to the client side of a website. That's the part of a website that's displayed in the browser window. A framework is a bunch of code that's been written for you already, which you can use to build your website. You can find Twitter Bootstrap at getbootstrap.com. Pre-written code, that sounds like a terrible idea, doesn't it? It sounds like you can't adapt it, you can't make it match your Fireworks or your Photoshop design, you have to stick with what you're given.

A site built with Bootstrap must be immediately recognizable like the default WordPress, Joomla!, or Drupal templates and themes are instantly recognizable. Fortunately, that's not true.
