The new markup properties bar

- [Jim] Jim Rogers here, back again with more Bluebeam tips and tricks. And this week, I wanna take a look at another feature that's new in Bluebeam Revu 2018 and that is the new properties menu that automatically pops up anytime you select one of your markup tools or anytime you select an existing markup on your drawing. Let's take a look. Let's slide our cursor over here to the right side of the screen and I'm gonna hover over this icon which says it's the Cloud+ markup tool. I'm gonna click that once and you'll see that when I do that two things happen. One, if you take a look at the cursor now, kind of circling in the middle top of your screen, it has changed to represent the fact that I am now using the Cloud+ markup tool. But also along the top, you'll see that you got this new menu bar that automatically popped up. Let's use the markup and see what that menu bar does. I'm gonna go ahead and zoom-in using the scroll wheel on my mouse and I'm gonna take my cursor and draw a box around the text 10" CONCRETE FOUNDATION WALL, TYPICAL. When I let that go, I also have the ability to place some text so I'm gonna click the mouse again and type in some text, Inspector says this should be 12". That's my Cloud+ markup tool. So, now that's I've got that done let's take a look at that menu bar across the top. This makes it really quick and easy to change the properties of the markup that I just applied. So, if I want to change the color of the line it's already up here for me. I just click once and I can change it to any color that I wanna change it to. If I wanna change this from a cloud to a dash, all I've gotta do is select from this drop-down menu. If I'm using clouds and I want to change the size of the cloud, again just click on the arrow and use these arrows to change the size of our cloud and so on. You can do the same thing with Fill, Line colors, anything that you see along the menu bar here at the top of the screen. Let's do another one and see what else we can do. So, I'm gonna click out of that particular markup and now I wanna go over here and use my Rectangle tool so I'll click that once and again you see the menu bar up here at the top. So let's pan over and zoom out a little bit and let's go ahead and use the Rectangle tool and drag that over our garage. See when I release that, my Rectangle tool has been applied to the drawing. I'm gonna go ahead and click out of that so it's no longer selected. You'll see when I do that, that menu bar disappears. Let's go ahead and click on the markup and get our menu bar back. And in this case I can do things like put some Fill in there. I'm just gonna click on Fill Color and we'll make that green. You'll see when I click that, I added Fill instantly to my markup. And again, you can change the Line color of your markup and so on and so forth as you see across the top of the screen. You wanna add some Hatching or shading, you can select that from the drop-down menu and then change it's properties as well. So just remember this new properties menu will appear anytime you select a markup tool or anytime you select an existing markup that's on your drawings. This should really cut some time off of your daily routines here in Bluebeam. But if you're having trouble finding something here in this new properties tool bar, the old properties pane, remember the one that used to open up on the right side of the screen? It still exists. You just have to go over here to the left. Find the gears icon. Hover over that. You'll see it says Properties. Click on that once and that maybe what to you would be an old familiar pane now slides open on the left side of the screen and all of your properties are there just like they used to be. To close that and get it out of your way, just click on that gear icon again. Remember you'll always have access to these properties across the top anytime you select one of those markups. Thanks for watching. Make sure to tune back in next week for more tips and tricks.
