- Welcome back to my Construction Industry Weekly series, I'm Jim Rogers and last week I started discussing safety issues in construction and I said that we need to start focusing efforts on teaching our craft workers how to perform their tasks safely. Now I wanna give you an example of what I mean by this. Let's take an issue like hazardous chemical communication. We call this HazCom in the US and I can't tell you how many HazCom training sessions I've seen and sat through that give all kinds of information about the HazCom rules and talk about how these chemical hazards have to be communicated to workers and where workers can find that information and that's all great. But most of them fail to actually get to the basic point of teaching that worker how to use a specific chemical safely in their job at their company.
