- In the construction industry, we deal with documents. A lot of documents, from plans and layouts to project specifications, requests for information, submittal documents, safety documents, subcontract documents, we just deal with a lot of documents. And it's always been a struggle to manage all of these documents, both from a physical standpoint, as in, how do I carry all these full-sized drawings around the job site or transport them back and forth from my office to the project, and from a logistical standpoint, as in, which documents are current, and how can I archive these old documents in case I need them later? My name's Jim Rogers, and I've spent my entire career managing construction projects big and small, and have spent many years teaching and coaching tradespeople and construction managers in topics ranging from general construction management, planning and scheduling, occupational safety and health, and many other various technical topics related to the construction industry.
In this course on how to use Bluebeam, I'll discuss how to get started using Bluebeam Revu, including how to choose and install the version that's right for you. I'll review all the different ways the program can be customized, so that you can set it up to suit the way you work. After that, I'll demonstrate the different ways that this program can convert documents and files into PDF documents from virtually any other file format, including CAD and BIM drawings, and how it can be used to create PDFs from scratch.
Once we have that covered, we'll take a look at how to use this program's extensive customized market features for things like clouding and commenting, maintaining as-built drawings and punch lists, and even quantity takeoffs and estimating. I'll even show you how to leverage its advanced features for searching and hyperlinking to make it a little easier for you to navigate through those large sets of construction drawings. Finally, we'll wrap up the course by introducing you to Bluebeam's built in cloud storage and collaboration features called Bluebeam Studio.
By the end of this course, you should have a good understanding of how and why our industry is beginning to turn to this powerful piece of software to help us better manage our construction projects.
