- [Instructor] As if collections weren't enough, Blender 2.8 introduced new concept of view layers. That's sort of similar to render layers. Now, at first, might be really confused. Might be asking yourself, "wait a minute, how can I mask things out, in this brand new fanangled system?" Well let me show you. First we need to actually make a simple scene. We have a cube, so let's go ahead and hit shift A. And let's add ourselves a monkey. Let's bring that monkey forward. It will serve as a mask. Now right off the bat, you can always hit one and two on your keyboard, to toggle between the collections. This acts a little bit like your old display layers. But now, you can kind of consider them, collection layers? Let's go with that. So one, shift two on your keyboard, that way we have both of them selected.
