At this point in our simulation scenarios we appear…to have run into a bit of a problem.…Our falling objects are for some reason refusing to drop…into the hollowed out trunk we have waiting to catch…them but are instead both bouncing off and moving the…geometry around, neither of which are really what we want.…In fact, if we just go ahead and…play the simulation, as seen from the catch camera's…perspective here, we can see this in action.…To understand why this is so, and how we go…about fixing the problem, we need to explain the difference…between concave and convex meshes from the perspective of the…dynamics engine and understand how those differences impact our simulation work.…
As far as explanations go, a concave object has a surface…that is hollowed, or round inward on itself at some point.…A cup or a bowl would be examples of very obvious concave objects, whereas a golf…ball would be a more subtle example, having…lots of tiny surface indentations as it does.…A convex object by contrast has a surface that curves outward…
