Join Ryan Kittleson for an in-depth discussion in this video Subdividing the model for extra detail, part of Blender: Character Modeling.
As it is now, our Retopology is pretty low resolution.…It captures the overall shape and structure, but the…mid ranged detail of the sculpt isn't coming through.…In this video, I'll show you how to…quickly transfer that detail onto the new mesh.…We're going to be subdividing the mesh once, and then using…shrink wrap again to pick up even more detail from the sculpt.…This process should make it clear as to why I…did some of the things that I did with the Retopology.…For one, I retopologized at a very low resolution.…Because I knew that later on, I…would be subdividing and increasing the detail instantly.…
Second, subdividing a mesh instantly turns any triangles…or five sided polygons into four sided polygons.…So that's why I didn't worry too much…about creating triangles or pentagons, while I was retopologizing.…So let's go ahead and hit Tab to exit Edit mode.…And in the modifiers, I want to add a multi-resolution.…And let's go ahead and subdivide that once.…Now one thing to keep in mind is that we already had a shrink…
