How to use the exercise files

- [Instructor] If you have access to the exercise files for this course, you can download them to your desktop, as I've done here. Now, I've saved everything as two 7-Zip files. 7-Zip is a free tool that you can use on Mac, PC, or Linux that lets you archive really large folders and files into a much smaller file. Now, I'm expecting everything to be in this order, that is, the chapter folders, one, two, and three, and going to be looking for the top folder assets along with it. So try not to unzip these two files into different directories. I am not including the render folder's files, however, as that directory alone is 27 gigabytes. Instead, all of these files can be remade during our lessons on rendering in Maya, Blender, Natron, and Unreal. I will leave the folder paths for you, however, so that way you can save all of your files into the right place. The last two things I want to mention are Maya and Blender file pathing. Now, as you can see here, Maya is giving me a warning just because it can't find certain things. Don't worry, there's an easy way to fix all of that. Go up to Window, General Editor, and look for File Path Editor. Now, the reason we want to do this is because we can't anticipate where you may unzip all of these files, and Maya will be looking for those specific paths that we have saved out here. So you can use the File Path Editor to go ahead and pick anything that's unresolved. You'll see a little X box. And then click on Repath Files, and locate the directory on your own computer where you unzipped everything to. And you can do the exact same thing inside of Blender by going to File, External Data, Find Missing Files, and then navigating to the top folder of where your files have been unzipped to. In this case, they're right here. So I'm going to go ahead and click on Find Missing Files, and Blender will search every directory and subdirectory for all of the missing files, like textures, that it's looking for. If your membership doesn't provide access to the exercise files, that's okay. You can still follow along using your own assets, as everything we touch on is applicable to almost any project. With that, let's have some fun.
