- [Narrator] As its name suggests, the adaptive DMC…or Deterministic Monte Carlo engine,…can, based on user input parameters,…make some very deliberate decisions…regarding where and how it will both place…and then use samples in our scenes.…The main control parameters for the engine, once again,…are the min and max subdiv values that give V-Ray the option…to make use of as many or as few samples…according to the min and max value set…as it deems necessary in order to achieve…the desired level of noise reduction in an image.…
On its first pass, V-Ray will always…use the minimum number of samples available,…and then using either the threshold value…that we see here as a control mechanism, or,…if we have this use DMC sampler threshold option checked,…the noise threshold control in the DMC sampler roll-out,…it can and will add more samples…as and when they are needed,…working up to either the max subdivs value itself,…or to the specified cutoff point, as determined by…either of the threshold values that we have mentioned.…
