- In this video, we're going to begin adding the armature and the bones to our rig so that we can drive the mesh. One of the first things I'm going to do is go to my front view. It's usually a good idea to set up your rig using orthographic views because it's more clean and clear and you're only having to deal with two axes at a time. To get this started, I'm going to go to Add, Armature, Single bone, and that is initially the only option that you have, but that single bone is going to be the root for the entire rig. The first thing we want to do is we want to move that up and position it so that it's in the middle of the character, near that character's center of gravity. You'll notice if I go over here to the Armature tab that I can choose X-Ray, and therefore, I'll be able to see the bones through the mesh. This is a pretty good position as far as where that root's going to live, but I'm going to want to have the rest of the bones be positioned based on where I want to be able to…
