First, it's going to help to have something really interesting to export, so let's delete this cube, and shift A, add a monkey. Now I want to come down here. Make sure generate UVs is on. And I'm going to open this up, and generate a really quick texture. Image texture. New checker. 124 by 124 is fine. Color grid, click okay. There we go. We have a nice color grid. Image save. I'm going to put this texture on my desktop. Save as. Now with this monkey still selected, I'm going to go to edit mode, face, shade smooth. Go back into object mode.
