- [Instructor] Alembic is a new open source file format that has seen wide adoption in the visual effects industry. In this week's Blender's Tips, Tricks and Techniques we're going to talk about how to use this powerful new feature that has been introduced in 278 and is widely used now in 279. First, what you want to do is switch to Cycles and next we want to animate something. Now, I'm going to actually use two examples today, so first I'm going to make a monkey. I'm going to position him about here. I'm going to turn on location rotation scale and auto key and I'm just going to play and move my monkey around and you can see at the bottom it's starting to make some yellow tick marks which is pretty cool. And right as it's about to finish, you're going to want to stop or hit alt A, maybe add a little bit more animation. We just want to have just some general movement here.
