- Now that we have our base colors laid down on to the hammer, let's take a look at adding a new texture slot so we can paint some detail over the base colors. To create a new texture slot, let's go over to the slots tab and right here let's just choose add texture paint slot. Now we want a diffuse color slot again so we'll choose that but this time we'll call it, let's just call this details one. Maybe we'll add a couple of more as we go. Let's change the resolution to 20-48 and so far this is the same way we created the previous texture slot but what we need to do is come in here to the color and if we choose this color swatch right here, we can come down and reduce the alpha all the way down to zero and what that will do is make this new texture layer transparent so we can see through it to the layer below. So I'll just click OK and there we go. So now if we click over here, we do not see it over here but when we paint, we'll see the paint over our base layer. So let's try that…
