Reviewing the differences between surveys and tests

You may have noticed that we spent a lot of time over the last two chapters talking about Blackboard's test tool, and we haven't actually mentioned Blackboard's survey tool once. Well, we did create a zero point Likert scale question in the last chapter, but that doesn't count. The reason why we haven't talked about the survey tool is you already know it. Blackboard's test tool and Blackboard's survey tool, are practically identical. There really are only three significant differences. First, survey questions are always worth zero points. Second, on a survey there's no right or wrong answers. And third, and this is the most important. Surveys are always, always, always anonymous. Blackboard will tell you if a student has responded to a survey but will never show you what a particular student answered. If this is going to be an issue, if you want to know what each specific student has answered, I suggest not using the survey tool. And instead, creating a test where each question is…
