The Tools area on your Course Menu is your student's set of tools, not yours. Remember, as an instructor, you can access the Course Tools under Course Management > Course Tools. But, if I click on this, what I see is a list of tools that are available to my students. And if I ever want to turn any of these tools off for my students, I click Hide Link. Hide Link doesn't disable the tool. You can still access it under Course Management. What it does is it unclutters the page and it reduces the chance of student confusion. My tip, turn off the tools you know you're not going to be using. However, don't ever turn off Announcements. Just trust me on that one. To view the Tools menu from a student's point of view, click the Edit Mode button off, and notice, the glossary disappears. We turn it back on, we can still see it.
