- Alright, so we're back in the darkroom at the Penumbra Foundation, we've exposed our plate, we're ready to develop it. I'm very excited about this. So Jeffrey, what's the process in terms of actually processing this exposure? - Well we take the plate out of the holder, and we put it into this little device here called a helper tray. They actually had similar plates back in the 19th century, different devices to help them keep the developer completely on the plate for an even development, some people do it by hand, I like to use the helper tray. - Okay. - This is our developer glacial acetic acid and other chemicals are in there and that's our developer. And then we have our stop bath and our wash bath, - Good old water? - Good old New York City water, the best water on earth. - Excellent! - Some people think other water is as good, - Right!
