- [Instructor] Now, a lot of people want to talk about plugins these days and effects and pulse width and things like that. But it really pays to start with the basics, which are volume and panning. So, let's go ahead and let's take a look at our mixer here. And let's keep an eye on the master over here, because what we want to do is make sure that we have adequate headroom. And I encourage you to think about your gain staging like grammar, okay? It's important, it's got to be there, it's okay to color outside of the lines sometimes, but you really got to know what you're doing. So let's listen and let's get our levels in a really nice place. And let's play with panning a little bit. (upbeat music) So, I'm going to go ahead and I'm going to start by muting a lot of our friends over here. Start with just drums.
