Join Bonnie Biafore for an in-depth discussion in this video Inviting people to a project, part of Learning Basecamp 2.
Most of the time a team of people collaborate to get a project done. To make your team members part of project, you simply invite them to your project, and you can add others at any time. To add people to a project, open the project in Basecamp. On the Projects page, click the project name. Then, on the Project Summary page, click Invite more people. On the right, you see all the people who are already part of the project. And on the left, you can type the names or e-mail addresses of other people you want to invite.
For example, if I start to type somebody's name you can see that Basecamp will show any matching names or e-mail addresses. If that's the person that you want, just click that and it adds it to the line. Then, click the next line or press tab, and type another name or e-mail address. If you want to add somebody else, click the next line. One of the things you'll notice, if you're inviting people to the project who aren't part of your Basecamp account, you'll see a link about deciding who can create new projects.
And this has to do with superpowers, but we'll skip that for now. After you've invited everyone, you can change their settings, as you'll see when we talk about adding people to your Basecamp account. Also, if you decide that you don't want someone as part of the project, you can remove them from this list before you invite them. Just click the x in the gray circle. If you want to include a message to the people, type it in the box. Then, click Send invitation.
You'll see that the people you invite immediately appear on the right as part of the project. Now, let's say some time goes by and somebody still hasn't accepted your invitation. Well, maybe they've been travelling and they didn't see the first invite, so you can always remind them to accept the invitation by clicking the Send another invitation link. And then, Basecamp will send out another e-mail. Whenever you invite people to a project, Basecamp e-mails invitations to them. You'll see how to accept an invitation when we talk about accepting invitations to Basecamp or projects.
