Sharon explains some of the benefits of obtaining an Azure certification.
- [Instructor] Why do you want to get certified? We all know it's hard work, it takes time, and at times it can be incredibly frustrating. Everyone will have a different reason for getting certified. You may be getting certified to look for new opportunities, whether those new job prospects are inside or outside of your company. You may be getting certified to keep current. Studying for an exam forces you to explore technologies you may not have previously thought to look at. You may be taking the time for certification because of company directives.
I know sometimes we have to get certified for our current roles, and yes I know it takes time, and yes I know you may not think it's relative, but trust me it's worth it. If your company's going to pivot, you need to pivot with it. Credibility and trust. I know a lot of people don't put a lot of weight on certification exams, but it does prove that you understand the technology. And finally, it's freakin' awesome to walk out of an exam with a pass, post it on LinkedIn and see the congratutory note or maybe a new job opportunity, is a fantastic feeling.
It's a great sense of accomplishment. Obtaining certifications not only can open additional doors for you, it's also a great sense of accomplishment personally.
