- [Instructor] Let's see some more examples where PowerShell skills are indispensable within an organization. We'll cover what isn't possible with a GUI, and can only be performed using PowerShell. Some systems, for example, are built on the Windows Server Core, and do not have a GUI, and you're only presented with PowerShell or the command line. Even on a standard server version, you'll find that the GUI is an optional installable component. In many environments, such Microsoft Exchange Server, the only way you can perform a task will be by using PowerShell commandlets. And finally, a system architect would prefer not to install a GUI, as this not only reduces the server's attack surface, making it less vulnerable, it also consumes resources on the device. We all know that data centers are typically off limits. You will not have physical access to a machine, and in many cases, console access will also be blocked.
