- [Mike] A picture's worth a thousand words, and in the same way, deploying a complex infrastructure with a thousand words takes a special skill to be able to do that. Wouldn't it be great if we could deploy the picture instead? Hi, I'm Mike, and as someone who's been working with Azure since before it was publicly released, I've seen a lot of changes. 10 years is a long time in the cloud. In 2014, Microsoft introduced Azure Resource Manager, or ARM, which provides a powerful way to orchestrate the creation of services in the cloud. They also introduced ARM templates, which is like a markup language that provides a picture instead of code. In this course, we're going to leverage ARM templates to quickly and efficiently take an example enterprise along the journey from being simply cloud aware to being fully deployed and cloud ready. We'll discuss how you structure templates so that you can provision, deploy and manage infrastructure by simply describing what we'd like the end result to be, rather than procedurally creating it step by step. There's a lot to cover, so let's dive in.
