These coaches are usually hired in short time periods to assist the teams in getting started. The Agile coaches are consultants as well as trainers, and typically help the teams to adopt new practices as well as explaining the importance of mentoring. Given that they're a third party from the outside of the organization, they could also help share ideas and help to remove the blockers that teams may run into.
