Overview of Amazon Web Services (AWS)

- Amazon is another company offering cloud computing. Amazon Web Services, or AWS, hold a dominant market position compared to Microsoft, especially in the platform as a service space. Amazon Web Services provides companies with lower IT costs and easily scalable systems. It offers computing, databases, storage, and application development all hosted in the cloud. For many developers Amazon Web Services is the preferred solution. AWS offers comprehensive services for web application development, testing and hosting. This includes software development kits, or SDKs, for multiple platforms such as iOS and Android, and support for many open source application languages. AWS is well established and dominant in many markets, and is the preferred backend provider for global service providers, such as SAP, Netflix, and of course, Amazon.
