- [Instructor] The primary attack vector for data and applications in the cloud is the network. Before we look at the different solutions that can be used to secure the network, let's take a high level overview of the important network and security components of Azure. Let's begin with the Azure virtual network. This is a logical networking construct built on top of the Azure physical network. Virtual networks are isolated from each other. This prevents other customers from accessing your data. But virtual machines deployed within your Azure virtual network must also be protected from unauthorized access. Network security groups are used for this. Think of a network security group as a stateful firewall that can be used to filter inbound and outbound access. It allows you to control access by defining rules, based on source IP address and port, destination IP address and port and protocol, commonly referred to as 5-Tuple.…
