- [Narrator] Devices are used to access data stored in the cloud. When data is cloud-based, organizations need to ensure that data remains secure and protected at all times. As cloud held data is stored off premises then you're relying on third party cloud hosts to maintain security. Let's take a look at how organizations and cloud partners come together, protect and secure our data. There are three areas where cloud data needs to be protected. These include; physical protection, protection for when data is at rest and protection once data is in transit. Although data in the cloud is stored off premises it's still stored in a data center. Physical security is required to ensure that data centers are protected from attack and other events that can lead to data loss such as fire or flooding. This includes; protecting entrances into the building, security staff, CCTV monitoring, limiting physical access to servers and robust staff vetting.
