While Azure Monitor can help with the underlying resources in a cluster, it is often beneficial to use a cloud-native solution for monitoring the actual applications on a cluster. This video looks at implementing a Prometheus deployment on the AKS environment, principally for looking at the state of the deployed applications.
- [Instructor] In our chapter directory, … we're going to do an ls to get a directory listing. … In this case, we're going to install … a tool called Prometheus, … so we're going to go ahead and look at that document, … more Install_Prometheus.md. … We're going to install Prometheus with Helm. … Now, we've installed Helm in a previous chapter … when we were talking about roles-based access … and access of a service within the Kubernetes cluster. … In this case, not only do we need that, … but we actually need the resource, … the Prometheus resource is going to look at node data … and container data, … so it's also going to get its own roles-based access. … Now, the Helm tool's great because it's going to install … the roles-based access requirement, … it's going to install the storage requirements … that we have here. … We're even setting the particular volume storage class … that we want to use for backing our Prometheus environment. … And we don't have to set anything else up … beyond the Helm client …
