Azure Active Directory or Azure AD is an identity and access management service that can be used to authenticate and authorize your users for accessing resources on your on-premises environment and the Azure infrastructure. At the onset, we should make it clear that Azure AD is not simply a cloud version of the Windows Server Active Directory, as you'll find out later on.
