- [Instructor] A hybrid scenario is where you need to manage identity services for both on premises environments and the cloud. We know that we cannot use active directory in the cloud. And we know you cannot use Azure AD for an on premises environment. So what solution can you use? Azure AD Connect is a tool that allows us to connect the two environments together. This tool connects your on premises active directory and Azure AD together to provide a hybrid solution. Whether on a permanent basis or temporary as you migrate to the cloud, Azure AD Connect allows your users to have one single identity that can be used for both on premises use, and cloud based systems. This is known as a hybrid identity, to give you a high level view of the prerequisites needed to install Azure AD Connect, you first need an Azure AD tenant, which is part of your online business services subscription, such as Office 365.
