Getting started with source control
- [Instructor] Getting started with source control. Before we dive into this section in this course, we want to get a good idea and a good understanding of what we mean by DevOps. If you were to ask a group of people what their definition of DevOps was, you'd probably get a few different answers. Very similar but not the same. For this course, we're going to use the Microsoft version of Azure DevOps, which is, "DevOps is the union "of people, process, and products "to enable continuous delivery of value to your end users," claimed by Donovan Brown, an employee of Microsoft. So we don't tell you what people to use, we don't tell you what process to use. Just use the right people and get the right people in the right places. Find a process that works for you and use that process. And lastly, we don't tell you what product to use. Although Azure DevOps is the preferred tool of choice at Microsoft, there's a lot of tools out there. We want you to use a product that works for you. But the bigger thing here is we want to enable continuous delivery of value to our end users. If we're not delivering value then why are we doing it? So make sure that, at the end of the day, you're delivering value to your end users. That's what it's all about and that's the definition we're going to go by for the rest of this course.
