Get an overview of the Microsoft Azure Architect Design (AZ-304) exam. Explore the prerequisites and the five domains of the exam.
- [Scott] In most organizations, the architect's role is primarily one of designing computer systems. After collecting all of the requirements from the various stakeholders, they design a solution that meets everyone's needs as best as he or she can. In the Azure certification world, an architect also needs to be able to implement those solutions. The architect is the highest level expert in Azure who can not only design the solution, but bring it to life. The Azure Architect certification is broken into two halves, design and implementation. The AZ-304 exam is Microsoft's design-focused exam for cloud architects. This exam is less technical than the AZ-303 exam, as it focuses on strategy more than implementation. Although there are topics that overlap between the two, you should expect the questions to ask you to choose the best solution among several. One of the advantages of cloud computing is that there are usually three or four valid ways to accomplish any task or solve any problem. Our job as architects is to identify which is the best way and understand why another approach would not be as good. It's not easy to do this sometimes. It requires a deeper level of understanding of the vast Azure landscape. Hi, I'm Scott Duffy. I've had the privilege to teach over 300,000 students in my career.
