- [Instructor] So here we are, back in the EC2 console, and you can see the EC2 instance that we created in one of the earlier videos. So, the next thing that I need to do is to disable source and destination checking for this particular EC2 instance. Now, this isn't something that you would normally have to do for an EC2 instance, but, it is something that we have to do for this particular virtual machine. The reason is simple. Normally, a virtual machine will only respond to traffic that's sent directly to it. That's the way that you would want it to behave. But, this particular virtual machine is going to be acting as a gateway, so it's going to have to handle traffic that's not necessarily intended for its own use. It needs to be able to relay that traffic to the appropriate destination. So, in order to do that, we have to prevent Amazon from blocking traffic that's sent to the virtual machine but that isn't intended for that virtual machine's specific use. So, the way that we do…
