This video features the practical details of the AZ-304 exam.
- [Narrator] The AZ-304 exam is one of the two exams that are required to get Azure Architect expert certified. The other exam is AZ-303, Azure Architect Technologies. I cover exam tips for the AZ-303 exam in another course on LinkedIn Learning. Make sure and look for that if you're interested in taking that exam. This course focuses on AZ-304 only. You must pass both AZ-303 and AZ-304 to get Azure Architect Expert Certified. Passing only one exam of the pair does not get you any certification. The AZ-304 exam is the latest incarnation of the Azure Architect exams. In 2014, Microsoft introduced the 70-534 exam to cover the Azure Architect topics. In 2017, they replaced that with 70-535. Only a year later, they replaced that single exam with a pair of exams, AZ-300 and AZ-301, which brings us today with the introduction of AZ-303 and AZ-304 in 2020. The AZ-304 exam costs $165 US dollars or the local currency equivalent. It is available to take online or in a Pearson VUE or Certiport Testing Center near you. Microsoft also occasionally offers special deals that allow you to take the exam again if you fail, but this is not the usual offering. The exam covers the following five topics: design monitoring, design identity and security, design data storage, design business continuity, and design infrastructure. You can see the breakdown percentages of each topic on screen. The exam objectives seem fairly evenly distributed among those five topics. Identity and security is obviously one area that might deserve a bit more of your study attention. Even though this exam is a design exam and most of the objectives have to do with recommending a solution, it covers a broad variety of topics. It will take you a few weeks to study for this exam. It remains to be seen if Microsoft will introduce performance labs to the AZ-304 test. They did not do that to the AZ-301 exam, so the likelihood of it being added is low. Besides performance labs, Microsoft employs a variety of question types, not just multiple choice. You should be prepared for questions that require you to drag and drop answers into a place, sort items in the correct order, or even have case studies that require some reading and comprehension. This is another reason why taking the AZ-900 or AZ-104 before this exam might be helpful. Besides verifying the knowledge that those exams cover, you will also see Microsoft exams in action and not be confused by the way Microsoft tests students.
