- [Instructor] Microsoft has built … an incredibly complex system … to ensure that your data is safe, secure and available. … We're going to cover … some of the core Azure architectural components … in this lesson. … And we're going to start off at the high level with geographies … Azure's broken down into worldwide geographies … which ensures that data residency … and compliance boundaries are met. … Each geography contains two or more regions … and we'll talk about regions in the next slide. … We, the customer can select where our data is stored … and there are five geographies: … the Americas, Europe, Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa. … I mentioned that each geography … has two or more regions … and each of these regions contain a region pair. … A region is paired with another region … within that same geography … and this is done because when a pair is updated, … only one region in that pair is updated at a time. … A regional pair also ensures that data resides … within the same geography within that regional pair, …
