Diagnostic logs need to be configured and managed in order to be effective. In this video, learn how to configure various diagnostic logs using PowerShell.
- [Instructor] The commandment that we'll…use in powershell to enable diagnostic logging is…set, Azure, RM, diagnostic setting…and then our resource ID, I'm going to scroll all the way over,…because you'll notice how long that resource ID is,…and in this case, we're going to select…the virtual machine DC.…Next enabled will be true, and then we have…to provide the storage account ID as well.…And again, you'll notice that that is a very long ID.…
Before we run that command, I want to show you…how we get those IDs.…And to do so, you'll simply use the command…get Azure RM resource, and then…you'll pipe it to FT.…And this is how you can retrieve that resource ID.…Let's go ahead and run the…set Azure RM diagnostic setting command.…Now let's go ahead and view that setting.…And we're simply going to use the command…get Azure RM diagnostic setting…and then resource ID one more time.…
We can see the metrics are now enabled…and our time grain is set to the default PT one minute…and the logs are also enabled,…and using the default time grain PT one M.…
