Cloud Models and Service Types

- By distributing compute resources around the world, cloud services and their providers give you a global network of resources to use. Gone are the days of being restricted by your on-premise infrastructure, and in some cases, your budget. With cloud services, you choose what's right for you, and only pay for what you use. There are three common models that can be used when working with cloud services. First, there's the public cloud model. In this widely used model, all resources are owned, operated, and managed by a third-party cloud service provider, like Azure. This includes all the hardware, software, and infrastructure used to support all of the cloud service provider's customers. Because it is the public cloud, these resources are shared between all costumers and organizations using the same cloud provider. For this reason, the public cloud model is the cheapest of the three.
