Learn how to develop immersive mixed-reality applications for distribution in the Microsoft Store.
- [Narrator] Hi, and welcome to Mixed Reality Fundamentals Pub Tips. Today we're looking at building and publishing your Unity application. Building and publishing your application is something that's guaranteed from the start of your development. It is such an important area. Decisions around built platforms and devices are generally covered early in development, so that you have a target. Outside of that, and further along in your development pipeline, the conversation around your build may encompass other important areas, like lighting, occlusion and colighted baking .
For today's tip, I would like to step back slightly in this process and recommend that you begin the build process early, and ensure that it is undertaken often. This is because of several reasons. The first is that you do not want to complete development just to find out you cannot build to your target platform, due to platform specifications. The second, is that when you build, all the settings which need to be baked within your application, will do so. If you wait until the end, this process can take a lot of time.
So do this periodically. The third, is that if you have any errors within your build, you will not find out about them until it is too late. Which could cost you a lot of time. Keep these things in mind as you develop, and you'll ensure that your end build will be fantastic.
