- [Instructor] ASR is a part of your business continuity and disaster recovery solution. Azure Site Recovery provides a warm secondary site that can be leveraged if the primary site becomes unavailable. It's not uncommon to confuse ASR and Azure Backup, but the services are very different. ASR provides the ability to failover to secondary site, and during this failover, all the apps and workloads will continue to be available, whereas when you use backup, if there is a failure, you still need to recover all that data first before you can start using it. But both should be used in your business continuity and disaster recovery strategies. Let's take a look at some of the key points of ASR, starting with replication frequency. You can replicate your data from your on-premises network to Azure every 30 seconds, every five minutes, and this replication is secured using certificates.
