- Azure Resource Manager templates or ARM templates for short, are great for consistently deploying the same set of resources. Let's create one using the Azure portal. As you can see, I'm already logged into my Azure account. To build a custom ARM template from scratch. begin typing deploy a custom template into the main search bar located towards the top of the Azure portal. Select the search result under services. You'll be brought to the custom deployment wizard. As you can see, Azure provides a few options for you to choose from. You can build your own template in the editor. Use one or the common templates featured or even load one from GitHub. Keep in mind that if you do use a template from the GitHub community, it won't be supported by Microsoft.
