About the Azure compute services course

- [Scott Duffy] Welcome to Azure for Architects Design a Compute Strategy. Compute services gets to the very heart of the power of the cloud. Compute services is how the work gets done. When we talk about Compute services, we're really talking about the rental of a computer's central processing unit, or CPU, to perform a task. It does not always mean having full control of a server, either. There are a number of different application architectures that can be deployed to the cloud, from big, monolithic custom applications, to customization of an existing off-the-shelf application, to serverless applications, to micro services and even batch jobs. This course will examine all of the compute options that Azure offers. We'll go over the big picture first, and then go into detail about the considerations for selecting each option. Since pricing is sometimes a major consideration in decision making, we'll examine the effect that your application architecture has on the overall cost operating the solution in the cloud.
