Preparing the Entra ID Connect server

- [Instructor] All right, now let's talk about the second component, the AD Connect Server. Like I previously mentioned, the AD Connect tool is not very demanding in terms of prerequisites and has a very moderate resource footprint. To deploy it you will need Windows Server 2012 R2 or above with the latest updates installed for the same reason we discussed in the previous slide. This server should preferably be a domain-joined member. It can be a stand alone server but then there will be additional configurations. So this is simpler. Next it needs to have a full GUI installation of Windows Server. You cannot use NANO Server or Server Core. As far as security is concerned, you should protect the AD Connect Server equivalent to how you'd protect a domain controller, because the AD Connect's database also has critical identity information just like your domain controller.
