Hybrid identity

- Welcome to my LinkedIn Learning course on Azure Active Directory Planning. As you know, Azure Active Directory is an identity as a service built into Microsoft Azure. Azure AD is modern, has tons of really cool features, and is the perfect solution for handling all of your identity needs. But, most organization study have heavy investments in their on-premises based identity solutions. So throwing all that out and completely jumping onto Azure AD is not always possible. That's why hybrid identity makes complete sense. Let's understand that in a little more detail. We know that Azure Active Directory is capable of handling the identities of all types of components. You can create new cloud users, do Azure AD join for devices, and deploy a wide variety of applications, ranging from Legacy to Modern to Full Spectrum. So in a sense, what I'm trying to tell you, is that Azure AD is fully capable of handling users, groups, devices, and applications all on its own without any external support. It can function as a completely independent unit. But like I said, more often than not, there is an entire infrastructure already in place on-premises, tied to a local identity solution. In Microsoft networks, it's most commonly Active Directory. So we need to integrate Azure AD and the new server active directory in a way that allows them to work together and can unleash the raw power of both solutions. In addition to that, the integration should be as seamless as possible for the existing users, groups, devices, and applications. How do we do that? We use the Azure AD Connect tool to establish seamless integration between the cloud and on-premises environments. And this mixed environment is called a hybrid identity infrastructure, very good to support your critical Legacy stuff on-premises and at the same time, also leverages the latest, cutting edge cloud features to your advantage. The goal of this course is to guide you to the planning needed for deploying a hybrid identity infrastructure introduction. The majority of our focus is going to be on the AD Connect tool required to set this up. My name is Kunal D Mehta. I'm an independent IT consultant, specializing in Microsoft Data Center and cloud technologies. It's an absolute honor to be your instructor today for this course on LinkedIn Learning. I hope you enjoy watching this course as much as I've enjoyed making it for you. So let's get started.
