Filtering objects

- [Narrator] Once we've figured out the plan for user and device strategy the next item on our to do list should be filtering. So what is filtering? It is the process of choosing which objects are allowed to synchronize to Azure AD and which objects are not. A typical active directory forest consists of at least a few thousand objects. And it's not necessary that all of them must go up in the cloud. For example, service accounts, temporary local accounts, vendor accounts, and so on. It just doesn't make sense for them to be in Azure AD. And if we do end up synchronizing them, let's say by accident, there will be an overhead on our AD connect server, it's database, and probably it may end up costing us additional licensing fees. And that's why filtering is important. Now let's take a look at the four matters of filtering that are available in AD Connect. The first is domain based filtering. Second, OU based filtering.…
