What would you recommend to someone trying to get a start in the industry today?
My recommendations. A would be to find a good school. That would be the first thing. The next part is that you know, it would be a really good idea to establish a place where you could learn CAD. CAD is a major part of design now. Whether it's industrial design or whether it's engineering. And I mean, you know, if you look at the big players in the software industry, they're prolific in, in, in the design world. So, my advice has been, and I've been asked this question before, my advice has been: choose one of the big players that are using a CAD product, learn that CAD product, and then also get a good grounding from an automotive school. Once you have all those in place and you have the experience, then it's a case of trying to find an avenue into one of the big OEMs to, to get an internship or an apprenticeship. Ideally, you really want to have a couple of CAD systems under your belt and become familiar with engineering practices. And then just identify a place like Pasadena or CCS in Detroit, where you can go to really learn the, the whole trade. And it really is more than just learning about design now. Designers really are, as I mentioned before, have to learn engineering, they have to learn almost the business aspects of, of this industry too. It has a huge influence on the ultimate design.
