- [Instructor] We're starting another chapter now in our AutoCAD Certified Professional prep course and what we're going to look at is reusing design content, so basically reusing data that we've got in existing drawings to perhaps reuse in the existing drawing or perhaps a new drawing. To do that, we're going to look at using AutoCAD blocks and AutoCAD external reference files or xrefs. In this particular drawing which is called reusing_blocks.dwg, we're going to look at creating an AutoCAD block. You can download the drawing file as usual from the website to use as an exercise file to follow along with the video. So, what we've got is a simple drawing in front of us and you can see there that we have a rectangle and a couple of lines there using the hidden line type. Now, the hidden line type there denotes a hole through this little object which we're going to call a sleeve and the sleeve is going to fit onto a shaft at some point in perhaps some mechanical assembly.
