Working with 2D blocks - AutoCAD Tutorial
From the course: Modeling a Staircase with AutoCAD
Working with 2D blocks
- In this video, we'll work with blocks to add a molding profile to our step. On the front edge of a step, it's common to find a piece of molding called a nosing. We're going to import a block of a common molding profile called nose and cove. All right, to get us started off, make sure you're in the Home tab on the ribbon, and we are going to switch to a top view. Now, we'll go to the Insert tab, and choose to Insert, and Browse, and we'll choose the nose and cove file which you can find in the Chapter One folder of your exercise files. Choose Open. These defaults are all OK. You can click anywhere in the space to drop the block into your model. You note that our block imports flat on the XY plane. That's the expected behavior though it depends a little bit on how the coordinate system was set up in the original block. I actually want this block to be aligned with the front face of the step. We can do that if we just set up the UCS properly before we import. So I will delete this…
