Why use annotation scaling?

- [Instructor] So we're staying in the 01_IntroductionAnnotation.dwg and you can see that we are in the Layout tab right now. So why would we use annotation scaling in our AutoCAD drawings? Well the main reason is consistency. We need to make sure that everything is consistent in each scaled viewport in the Layout tab like I've got on the screen at the moment. Now if you look at the left-hand viewport, you can see that everything looks consistent and neat and tidy. All of the dimensions are showing and they're all legible and easy to read on the drawing. Now if I just zoom in a little, you can also see that the dimensions in the right-hand viewport are legible but they're smaller. So what we've got there is an inconsistency, as in, annotation is different sizes in the Layout tab. Now ideally, you want all of that annotation the same size. But more importantly, you want things like the gaps between your hatching to be the same size, and they're not either. That's because the two…
