What you should know

- [Instructor] Before you take this course, I recommend being comfortable drafting in AutoCAD. That is, you should be able to create these different types of objects on the draw panel, and know how to modify them using these tools. I'm not concerned that you know how to annotate, because that's not something we have occasion to do in the 3D modeling project. You should also understand how to manipulate layers. All of these skills are essential for drafting. Once you have mastered these skills, you can make drawings like this CAD drawing, here. Don't worry if you haven't made a complex CAD drawing before, you just need to have the skills needed to manipulate these geometric entities, because a lot of 3D modeling is actually 2D drafting on another plane. You'll also learn a host of different specialized 3D modeling tools that exist in different work spaces within AutoCAD. In fact, there are different tool sets that we'll be using during the course of this project. If you're starting from scratch in AutoCAD, I recommend starting with an AutoCAD Essential Training course in the library. And then come back here and dive into the third dimension.
